THE HISTORY - Of Loam And Clay
“And the LORD GOD formed MAN of the DUST of the GROUND – of LOAM …..“
LOAM AND CLAY
The for centuries weathered rock - one of the most important BUILDING MATERIALS of MANKIND
Ever since the STONE AGE, clay - one of the main components of loam is used to manufacture utensils, ornaments, artistic and religious objects and more.
In the 3rd MILLENNIUM B.C. - in the old INDUS CULTURE - the HARAPPA CULTURE - loam has already been used as a building material - as air-dried mud brick.
The main centre of this culture - MOHENJO DARO - the largest preserved city of the bronze age - is contained in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.
Till recently loam was considered as the building-material of the poor people.
In the meantime the “BUILDING WITH EARTH MOVEMENT” is introducing loam and clay as the building material of the future - to conquer climate change, to protect the environment and the health of the people.
Archaeology has shown that no unfired humidity resistant loam- and / or clay-building materials were available.
Now IDEAS AND PROJECTS FOR MANKIND ORG introduces its ecological and economical unfired, air-dried, diffusible, water- and frost-resistant loam and clay materials, for preparation and / or application by hand or machine.
These materials allow creative, sensual, natural, earthy activities. One can build with these clay ovens, create its own floor- and wall-designs, construct its own house - its own natural pool and waste water purification pool.
